Where's Bunny??
[4:45:47 PM | 7/29/2010 | ]
Coupons for Amy's products, and other foods I eat can be found on line. Go to their web site and register, and they will add you to their mailing list. I have been eating even more of her organic entrees in the heat, it beats cooking, and they are the best "healthy" and low fat, low calorie entrees out there. Bunny

Dear Bunny, Thank you once again for being a voice for those of us still trapped in the prison of obesity. I applaud your honesty. I admire your tenacity. You are a beacon of hope. Most people do not understand that this addiction is real. An obese person is looked upon with scorn--a gluttonous person with no self-control. An intelligent person wouldn't think of telling an alcoholic to just use some self-control and go ahead and attend that keg party so the host doesn't get his feelings hurt -- yet these are the kind of insensitive comments I have seen to some of your columns. Keep doing what you're doing Bunny! I, for one, am extremely proud of you. Becky in Missouri

Meet me Wednesday, March 3 at 7pm in the Community Room at Baldwinsville Public Library for a discussion of Die Fat or Get Tough! Buy the book and read it while I am gone........Bunny

Have you tried Olives (lack of punctuation is correct) Eatery in Baldwinsville? It is an amazingly unique culinary (and healthy) experience and the reward for eating healthy is a bunch of unbelievable little shops filled with vintage clothing and jewelry and a whole bunch of one-of-a-kind merchandise. I've been there twice and can't wait to go back again. I think you'd love it, Bunny! Suzanne

Dear Bunny, I have been meaning to write to you for quite some time to thank you for your column. The silly letter from the woman whose teen daughter has anorexia finally motivated me to sit down and write. In my opinion, it is ridiculous to try to compare your situation with that of her daughter. There is nothing similar about them. As someone who also struggles with issues of being overweight I am most appreciative of your outlook on what you must do to avoid out of control eating. You talk about yourself and what works for you and I often find your techniques very helpful. I don't know why sometimes I just have to eat chocolate or something sweet or can't bear not to eat what others are having. It might take a lifetime of therapy to find out. Since I am unwilling to spend all of that time and money to learn what causes it, if it is psychological and not biological, I find it much easier to avoid situations of temptation. Although that is not always easy, either. Your column helps. Congratulations to you on continuing to live a healthy life. I empathize with the daily struggle. Please keep up the good work with your columns and know that your thoughts are very helpful to me. Theresa

Just a quick e-mail to let you know that your words touch people far and wide. I live just north of Seattle, WA and today I chose to read your entire e-mail, which sometimes I don't make the time to do. I am an overeater, now up to about 260, diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid issues......I will be 50 in August, and newly married in October to a wonderful man. I need to get this weight off, and am trying so hard just to get motivated to do it. Your e-mail today touched me deeply. I do know that ultimately it is going to depend on me and me alone. My mother had offered to pay for Jenny Craig for me, and I've been thinking it over for awhile now. I know now by reading your words that those "diets" are not going to help me lose and keep the weight off.....I'll save her the money, and reach deep within myself to make the changes in my life that are necessary for living. Thank you so much for reaching out and making changes in lives of people you don't even know are out here reading your every word. God Bless You, Diana

I didn't know how to send this to you but here goes. My wife Betsy and I have started the weight watchers program privately. I initiated it because when I look in the mirror I see "rolls" started and I'm scared. I weigh 50 pounds over I guess. I used to be thinner but my lifestyle has changed. I never used to worry but now I know I've got to learn "how" to eat. I know it's up to me and your column has helped me to realize that. I have friends my age who are having heart attacks. I'm 57, I'm scared. Thanks for your column I read it everytime and you may have just saved two lives. Thanks again Tim

About the column on "fat" professionals in the health business.......... You have my thumbs up on this article. I worked in a hospital for 4 years and always had the same thoughts. Another profession to consider is teaching. What's up with that? I would be willing to bet that 7 or 8 our of every 10 public education teachers is overweight. I have no opinion about the impact on our kids but they certainly are not good role models. Just my observation. Marty

Keep up the good work1 Also keep motivating the kids. After all this next generation will have to run this country. If they are not fit and healthy what does the future look like for all of us?

Hi Bunny- Just wanted to say thank-you again for your newsletters. They are greatly appreciated! Also wanted you to know that the diet buddy you set me up with "pebbles" and I and our spouses met up with each other in Albany, where they live. We went to the Museum there and they took us out to a nice place to eat..........What a great time we had and they are nice people. I hope others have had good luck on their buddies also.......You are a Godsend.............Have a great day! Pat :-)

E-mail coming around tomorrow evening. Open House tonight at Clary, so I will send one around tomorrow. What a wonderful weekend at Ithaca. I met so many new people, that all struggle like us....Dr. Kracker's wonderful culinary crackers will be in all of the Wegmans stores within a week or so. Look for them. My favorite is the new Apple. Hang in there! Bunny

I love your comparison to trying to quit smoking with trying to control what we put in our mouths. It's excellent and perhaps something that people who do not struggle with their weight could understand!! Just one thought: I go to the Regional Market on Thursdays from May through October. Before I buy anything from a vendor, I always ask where the produce was grown. The local farmers are having to compete with dealers, who bring in food that has often travelled across the country and sometimes comes from Canada! Because these dealers buy in quantities, they can charge less and have all sorts of "wonderful" items that are not in season around here and are not offered by the local farmers. We really need to support our local farmers. The Regional Market should be for regional farms. If I want things that are out of season, I'll go to Wegmans! Perhaps you could mention this along with eating organic. Eat Local! Support our local farmers!! Thanks again for being the awesome woman you are. Nina

Nancy is on a roll sending us info. Hi Bunny, I have discovered Pepperidge Farms Deli Select version of these. Wegman's and Walmart in Auburn do not sell them. P&C in Skaneateles sells them. My family and I have bought the Arnold's Sandwich thins for some time. We prefer the taste and texture of the Pepperidge Farms brand better. Nancy

They show films at 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings for $5.00, $4.00 if you pre-purchase them through Pay Pal. I just print my receipt to bring to the theater. Here is the link to their website: www.auburnpublictheater.com I hope this helps you.

My lifestyle change with food has been the same for the past 5 years. I very rarely eat bread, potatoes, macaroni, or any of their relatives. I concentrate on fresh fruit, fresh vegetables and lean meats. I do eat "healthy" snacks, spelt, gluten-free products, etc. but the key is exercise. Find something you like, and do it! Good luck, Bunny
